Manchester Cheerleading Vice Chair

Role Purpose -
The role of the Social Secretary is to effectively and efficiently create, plan and manage successful social events for the club and its members. The Social Secretary has overall control recruiting, motivating and managing any social events teams and will liaise with the Secretary and the Treasurer, as appropriate on bookings and finances.

Key Tasks -
•Organise social events for the club
•Work closely with the committee to identify potential opportunities for arranging fundraising social events.
•Motivate club members (and non-members, if appropriate) to attend social events
•Help encourage new members into the club and build cohesion among members
•Maintain the good reputation of the club during social activities
•Provide inclusive events for all sections of the membership including non-alcohol activities

•Highly organised
•Aware of H&S requirements
•Aware of Social events and alcohol policy
•Intuitive and responsive

Support Available -
We will support the Social secretary with the resources and experience of the Student Activities & Opportunities teams you will also have the support of your elected committee. Training is available at the start of your term of office, as well as at the beginning of term 1. Committed social secretaries will have the chance to develop themselves and the club through further training and development plans.

Our website provides other useful resources of interest to the social secretary such as, The Student Activities Handbook, how to budget, funding applications, how to handle money, cash handling risk assessments, finance forms and much more. Over the course of the year, there will be specific additional training to assist you in your role.

Skills you'll gain -
•You will have the opportunity to develop your communication, leadership, organizational, team working and project management skills. However, it must be noted that students will only get out, what they put into the event process.
•You will gain experience in budget management.
